Job Description:

We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer with a DevOps focus to join our L3Harris Broadband Communications Systems team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The successful candidate will work as an integral member of our DevOps team working with 5 -7 other DevOps engineers serving two distinct environments in the unclassified and classified space. Typical day-to-day activities include CI/CD pipeline maintenance, deployment and system configuration management, automation, virtualization, and containerization optimization. Work is done using the Agile methodology in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. We are mission-focused, agile, and innovative and require these traits in the successful candidate as well.

Essential Functions:
  • Analyzing, designing, and developing release automation for deployment using Salt, Ansible and Puppet
  • Work with DevOps team to design and deploy Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in hybrid virtual machine and Kubernetes deployment targets
  • Ability to script in various languages (e.g. Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with Git, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps
  • Build tools as needed to improve automation, reduce occurrences of errors, and continuously improve our pipeline
  • Ensure all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary
  • Support integration of disparate systems for customer end systems in air-gapped environments
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while adhering to development processes
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written

  • Travel requirement - less than 10%


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 4 years of software experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of degree, 8 years of software experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • "Relevant Experience" means demonstrable experience at the level requested in some of the following areas:
    • Infrastructure-as-code (IAC) using Salt, Ansible and Puppet
    • Developing CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins and/or Gitlab-CI
    • Application containerization and Docker, Podman, Vagrant, and on-premises Kubernetes integration
    • Utilizing and developing in primarily Unix, as well as some Windows environments
    • Working knowledge of software engineering and quality assurance processes
    • Technical background in software development (language agnostic)
  • Due to the nature of our work, qualified candidates must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Experience with bash and Linux build debugging
  • Experience in make, cmake, and C++ development
  • Familiarity with Platform One tools
  • Experience with RHEL 7/8 environments as well as Ubuntu or Debian
  • RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Experience configuring network interfaces
  • Knowledge of network firewalls, routing, and port mappings
  • Experience with security implementations such as SELinux and security scans
  • Security certifications (e.g. CISSP)
  • Experience developing and implementing REST APIs
