Job Description

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies company, is seeking a Software Engineering Specialist to join us in our Coleman Aerospace facility in Orlando, FL. The selected individual will be tasked with the design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of mission critical and support software packages. This is generally performed in a real-time embedded environment, a Linux based real-time environment, or in a Windows based GUI environment. The embedded software work primarily consists of C and C++. The GUI software work primarily consists of Visual C+ utilizing Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) and C# utilizing Microsoft Forms.

Essential Functions:
  • Obtain, and maintain, a US government security clearance
  • Design and develop software solutions for new and existing software items on flight vehicles and associated support equipment
  • Maintain software within a configuration management system
  • Design and maintenance of software requirements, software design, software test and software interface documents
  • Conduct non-conformance investigations and lead software troubleshooting efforts as needed
  • Perform software testing and formal software verification
  • Participate in system level testing, flight events, and associated missions as required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years prior (post college) experience working as a Software Engineer, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree with 8 years prior (post college) experience working as a Software Engineer or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior (post college) experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior experience working as a Software Engineer.
  • 1+ year of experience working with real-time embedded systems
  • Knowledge of object-oriented technique
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232, RS-422, Mil-Std-1553 and/or CAN bus
  • Ability to produce technical reports, derive requirements and produce documentation

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to produce, and present, technical presentations to internal and external groups for design reviews, technical interchange meetings and the like.
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software engineering or similar
  • Real-time embedded programming experience with VxWorks, Greenhills, or similar RTOS
  • Real-time embedded programming experience on Single Board Computers (SBCs) and Digital Signal Processors (DSPs)
  • Experience in CMMI 3 or higher work environment
  • Prior experience developing software for real-time control of events and/or synchronization
  • Familiar with use of oscilloscopes, test equipment, and probes
  • Ability to comfortably work under Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience developing MFC GUIs utilizing Visual C++
  • Experience developing Windows Forms GUIs utilizing C#
  • Active US government security clearance
