Specialist Solutions Architect - CloudOps - Governance \u0026 Compliance

Seattle, Washington

Employer: Amazon
Industry: Solutions Architect
Salary: $118200 per year
Job type: Full-Time

AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS sales organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges. This might involve guiding customers as they refactor an application or designing entirely new cloud-based systems. SSAs also use customer feedback to influence AWS product roadmaps and to create scalable mechanisms for our internal technical teams.

The SSA will be responsible for driving customer engagements and developing technical expertise across the worldwide solutions architecture organization in the areas of governance, compliance, and security on AWS.

As the lead expert on services including AWS Control Tower, AWS Config, Audit Manager, and related tools, the SSA will advise customers on building secure, compliant architectures on AWS leveraging these services. They will deliver technical presentations, create reusable assets to support customer engagements, and help establish best practices and reference architectures.

Additionally, this role will be critical in scaling specialized knowledge across the solutions architecture organization. The Specialist Solutions Architect will create training materials, conduct internal workshops, and mentor members of the AWS Technical Field Community (TFC) on AWS services and design principles for governance, risk management, and compliance. They will also coordinate with AWS compliance teams and stay up-to-date on audit standards, regulations, and AWS certifications in this space.

As an SSA, you will be a hands-on technical expert while also driving broader strategic initiatives to establish Amazon as the premier provider for compliant and auditable workloads in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of AWS, experience successfully leading customer engagements, and a passion for developing and onboarding technical talent.

Key job responsibilities

Lead the efforts to drive adoption of AWS governance and compliance services such as AWS Control Tower, AWS Config, Audit Manager, and AWS Security Hub through technical presentations, workshops, proofs of concept, and production deployments.

Implement and lead projects to develop reusable artifacts, reference architectures, and thought leadership content to accelerate AWS compliance adoption with customers.

Lead projects to create technical content, blogs, whitepapers, and reference architectures to enable broader awareness and adoption of AWS compliance offerings amongst AWS customers.

Work with the worldwide specialist team to develop best practices, training, and enablement content to equip the broader AWS field team on governance and compliance topics.

An SSA combines technical skills in Cloud Ops, business acumen, and technical sales skills. They are focused on supporting customers throughout the engagement lifecycle and work closely with the teams that support implementation including AWS Professional Services and Partners. SSAs unblock customers and help them get to production faster.

Joining AWS as an SSA will give you opportunities to work on interesting and challenging problems, collaborate with a group of skilled practitioners focused on delivering outcomes for our customers, and be part of a diverse and inclusive community committed to being Earth's Best Employer.
