Speech-Language Pathologist

Part-time and PRN

Immediate openings for a Part-Time and PRN SLP

THE SLP WILL:

Optimize physical ability of residents in the facility by performing the following activities:

• Screening of all residents; evaluating and treating all residents who could benefit from intervention.

• Complying with Minimum Data Set (MDS) procedures and effective care planning; appropriately documenting progress toward identified objectives; and communicating resident status and needs to the resident, the resident's family, the staff and other professionals as appropriate.

• Serves as a consultant to therapy and facility staff as appropriate.

• Build a strong rehabilitation practice by establishing and maintaining courteous and helpful interaction patterns with staff, residents, and families which reflect sensitivity to individuals needs and a problem solving approach; actively integrating therapy's role into facility and interdisciplinary treatment team; contributing to facility resident care, utilization review, case management, administrative staff/department head, and family conference activities/communications; establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with other healthcare professionals and colleagues in the community.

• Making appropriate referrals to other members of the rehabilitation team, developing and implementing new programs/techniques to enhance rehabilitation services; adhering to established facility policies and procedures related to environment safety, orderliness, risk management, infection prevention and emergency situations; adhering to the requirements of the Residents' Bill of Rights.

• Understand managed care, prospective payment system (PPS) billing, and treatment guidelines.

• Must embrace the team concept and interdisciplinary care.

• Maintain confidentiality of facility and resident information.

• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master's degree in speech Language Pathology. Current American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certificate of clinical competency in speech language pathology or current eligibility for certification process by following ASHA and facility guidelines for the clinical fellowship year experience.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years clinical experience preferred, including at least one year in patient care and one year of successful clinical management.
