Sponsor Funded Professional - Educational Program Specialist, Senior
The TRIO Upward Bound Educational Program Specialist, Sr. is responsible for providing academic and personal support to low-income, potential first-generation college students. The Educational Program Specialist, Sr. ensures that program objectives are met including improvement on academic standardized tests, participant retention, postsecondary enrollment, and postsecondary persistence. The position provides individual and group counseling sessions to participants during the academic year and summer components. This position is based at the Atlanta Campus of Georgia State University and focuses on Mathematics and Science programming for student participants.

Qualifications:
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Master's degree and two years' experience managing academic support services programs or counseling low-income academically underprepared high school or college students in either a postsecondary educational or community-based human services agency. The Educational Program Specialist, Sr. must possess an understanding and sensitivity to multicultural/differences needs.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Conducts presentations to schools and community organizations to ensure that all eligible students are aware of the program
- Monitor's participant's academic performance by maintaining participant records and database by reviewing academic assessments with participants and ensure that a rigorous high school curriculum is being observed
- Follows, policies, regulations and procedures established by the U.S. Department of Education and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia with implementing in grant responsibilities
- Visits target schools and communicates with participants weekly to provided college preparation services
- Engages participants in active learning through career planning, academic curriculums and other activities
- Conducts sessions for participants and parents regarding completing college, scholarships, and financial aid paperwork.
- Coordinates college tours, career exploration, and financial literacy activities
- Assists with planning and implementing Saturday Success Sessions, Summer Enrichment Program and field trips during standard and non-standard work hours
- Facilitates participants use of technological devices for promoting online learning while enhancing academic progress
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Director
