Duties and Responsibilities:

Database Administrator:

Monitors and manages SQL Servers and databases on a day-to-day basis; develops database designs, stored procedures, triggers, and constraints for new applications in MS SQL Server based on client standards.

Establishes and implements best practices regarding data definition, data quality, data security, and data integration.

Responsible for leading development teams in the design and development of all databases.

Mentors team members with leading industry standard development skills to include knowledge transfer to enhance team building opportunities.

Must be able to write or assist other developers in writing scripts, embedded SQL calls, and other data access techniques.

Responsible for the maintenance of a directory of all databases that describes the location, content, size and projected space requirements over the next 5 year period, data access requirements, security requirements and other system constraints.

Develops and implements backup and recovery strategies. Develops and maintains a workable disaster recovery plan for the client.

Performs evaluations and recommends modifications to proposed models to ensure data integrity and efficient data access from all application modules.

Performs code review and provides consultation to development teams. Installs, configures, and performance tunes all SQL Server databases.

Provides user support and problem resolution regarding client database for end users, including monitoring SQL server jobs.

Responsible for providing technical assistance to other technical personnel involved in computer application development by answering database related questions, resolving data access problems, describing techniques needed, and writing procedures as required.

Deploys database objects as needed for development staff; creates, alters, and manages security of database objects.

Integrates third party software and databases with client databases using and providing support to users for SharePoint.

Monitors application systems changes to database structures and processes that will result in optimal performance and productivity.

Will be responsible for reviewing and approving all data transformation and migration procedures.

Must follow system development processes and standards as defined by the client.

Briefs clients and the university on all activities associated with services provided.

Writes reports documenting activities performed for the client.

Develops and maintains client relationships.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of industry best practices in the implementation of complex technical solutions
Knowledge of Microsoft systems, i.e., Windows 2012, IIS , SQL Server 2012 and 2014, Access, MS SQL Server Report Services ( SSRS ), SQL Integration Services, Visual Basic, Visual Studio, HTML , ASP , SQL , VBScript XML , and Microsoft . NET
Knowledge of current software and hardware packages
Knowledge of current database systems and technologies
Knowledge of technical writing practices
Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
Human relations and customer service skills
Written and oral communication skills
Problem solving skills
Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
Ability to work with client management, development teams, and other staff
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
Ability to respond to multiple competing demands
Ability to install, configure, maintain, and tune enterprise level databases

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related, and six (6) years experience creating and maintaining SQL Server mission critical databases. Experience can be substituted for education.
