Position Summary



Employee must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin as this role is currently driving in to office.

The Sr Account Follow-up Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate resolution of accounts receivable for inpatient and outpatient accounts. The duties include working with insurance payers to resolve issues and facilitate prompt payment of claims. This position is highly focused on the resolution of insurance processing delays and denials for the more complex claims. Provides training to the team and responds to questions as needed. Works cooperatively with coworkers and clients with minimal supervision. Escalates trends and claim issues to management for resolution. Routinely uses the patient accounting system, electronic claims systems, verbal and written skills to expedite resolution of claims and issues. The Sr Specialist position performs specialized duties for the team and assists management with daily activities. Has thorough knowledge and understanding of patient billing, claims submission, and payer specific requirements.

Working experience in Homecare billing & follow up, working knowledge of billing forms HCFA-1500 & UB04 as well as EOB-explanation of benefits, good analytical skills, communication skills.

Qualifications:

License/Certification/Registration required? No

Education:

*HS Diploma or equivalent required

*Business courses such as medical terminology, accounting, finance, cash applications, typing, and word processing preferred

Experience:

*Minimum of 5+ years Business Office experience in a healthcare environment required

*Hospital or Physician practice billing experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*Working knowledge of billing and follow-up processe

*Excellent customer service through oral and written communication to patients, families, and other external and internal contact

*Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, families, public, co-workers, and professional office

*Knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards and PCI compliance regulation

*Proficient use of systems (computer, applications, phone systems)

*Basic knowledge of medical terminology

*Detail-oriented, good organizational skills, and ability to be self-directed

*Strong time management skills, managing multiple priorities and a heavy workload in a high-stress atmosphere

*Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed in an active work environment with changing work need

*High-level problem solving, analytical, and investigational skill

*Ability to learn quickly and meet continuous timeline

*Exhibits behaviors consistent with principles of excellent service

*Knowledge of payer contract

*Demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment
