Position Summary:

Conduct engineering evaluations on industrial off-road engine and hybrid systems to ensure compliance with company standards. Collaborate with customers, sales, and service to capture all required engineering data and to report findings. Make recommendations in applications to ensure proper performance. Aid in the design and development of equipment and systems to fulfill the needs of customers. Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Job Functions:
  • Create engine and hybrid specs for OEM and Distributor customer base.
  • Perform primarily diesel engine installation reviews, which includes data acquisition, calculations, and engineering analysis for new installations.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner with attention to lead times and customer's schedules.
  • Assist in design and testing of existing and current products
  • Work with customer's engineering and design teams to efficiently integrate YANMAR engine into their application.
  • Maintain internal project database on each active application and manage Installation Review work flow.
  • Respond to engineering-related questions for Sales Department's new and existing applications.
  • Understanding of existing and future regulations globally and ensuring the customer's applications are within compliance.
  • Work with suppliers to provide components that meet YANMAR standards, have acceptable lead times, and are cost-effective.
  • Negotiate and manage engineering improvements in OEM and Distributor based applications.
  • Expand understanding of YANMAR engineering practices through specific training sessions, ad hoc discussions with managers and senior engineers, and through self-study.
  • Exhibit high competence in YANMAR product line knowledge.
  • Understand the processes within various YANMAR departments such as Parts, Service, Warranty, etc.
  • Assist with problems as they arise with Distributors, OEMs, and dealers.
  • Ensure that YANMAR standards for engine installation are adhered to for each application.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability with engines is strongly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of data acquisition and testing methods
  • Perform engineering calculations and conversions
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - PPT, Word, Excel
  • 3D modeling & drawing experience (Creo/Windchill familiarity preferred)
  • Microsoft Dynamics ERP system experience a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
  • Demonstrated initiative to achieve desired results with little direct supervision is imperative
  • Ability to work 8+ hours per day in a plant/office setting. Must be able to navigate all areas of the building and facility as needed. May occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds in an office, customer, or similar setting. Must be aware of surroundings.


Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical degree (EE, etc).
  • 4+ Years of Engine/Hybrid Applications Engineering Experience
  • FEA & Vibrational Analysis proficiency (Solidworks/NI diadem preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion
  • This position is full time and based in Adairsville, GA.
