Job Description:

At Electrodynamics, Inc, we manufacture ruggedized status indicators, elapsed time indicators and event counters to be used in an array of commercial and military applications. As a manufacturing engineer for the organization, you are responsible for implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes to increase production efficiency and product quality. Optimally, a manufacturing engineer can work cross-functionally with a team of design engineers, quality engineers and operations to identify and resolve production issues and ultimately increase operator throughput.

Within this role, it is essential to be someone that is respectful and collaborative with both operators and the engineering team. It is optimal to be an individual who is curios and eager to learn to assist in problem solving efforts. Lastly, it is important to have worked in a manufacturing environment previously to share new ideas and systems that could aid in development of new products and changes within the production lines.

Essential Functions:
  • Evaluate and update manufacturing processes based on optimization metrics, including efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and test effective fixture designs to enable higher operator throughput and operator safety.
  • Conduct root cause analysis utilizing 8D methodology and fishbone diagrams to drive corrective actions.
  • Complete data analysis to organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources.
  • Ability to interact with project tracking tools to implement systems and processes into production in a timely manner.
  • Cooperatively complete DFM (design for manufacturing) analysis with design engineers for the development and implementation of new products.
  • Work with operators and operations supervisors to interpret and analyze operator suggestions to yield better production methods.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in creating routings and deployment within an ERP system.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why's, Fishbone)
  • Project management skills
  • Mechanical design experience in 3D design software (Solid Edge preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience working with industry and military standards/specifications.
  • Statistical and financial analysis experience
  • Experience with six sigma, value stream mapping and 5S+1
  • Ability to create engineering drawings and construct bills of materials for fixtures and equipment.
