The ESG-eX team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders' expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.

The ESG-eX team is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst - Carbon/ESG who brings strong analytical capabilities to use in assessing carbon emissions data and driving actionable business insights. Your work will help our carbon measurement team continuously enhance our emissions quantifications and tracking our progress towards The Climate Pledge's Net Zero Carbon by 2040 goal.

The ideal candidate is an analysis expert who leverages a variety of data platforms and analytical tools to provide timely, meaningful, and consumable information. They will transform and present carbon data for internal reviews and external disclosures, ensuring data quality through scalable testing mechanisms. They build deep contextual and domain knowledge about our carbon accounting systems, putting their exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to work.

This role is responsible for ensuring data remains high quality and supports our teams role to ensure our data collection and reporting processes are optimized. Strong communication skills are a must as this role will present data and findings to multi-stakeholder audiences, making impactful recommendations and driving tactical and strategic business impacts.

Key job responsibilities

- Extract, format and transform data from upstream tables for internal pre-reviews, statutory reporting, and external disclosures related to carbon emissions

- Develop and implement scalable mechanisms for internal pre-review examinations related to statutory reporting metrics and global carbon footprint assurance.

- Evaluate and improve data collection and ingestion processes for carbon statutory reporting, proposing solutions to enhance scalability and eliminate redundancies.

- Manage and obtain related datasets by accessing raw data feeds, building queries and macros, writing VBA code, organizing data and designing reports that present status-at-a-glance visualization for business performance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Math, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.

- 5+ years of experience using Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and visualization tools such as Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.

- Experience in working with databases and SQL in a business environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs.

- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

- Experience with creating and building predictive/optimization tools that benefit the business and improve customer experience

- Experience articulating business questions and using quantitative techniques to drive insights for business and communicating with technical and non-technical senior level managers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
