As a Sr Business Systems Specialist in the Refining Systems Department, you will be part of a team that provides digital business solutions for our Refining, Logistics, and Green Diesel operations. This includes an ecosystem of integrated software solutions, mobile devices, and proprietary applications - both on premises and in the cloud.

Your primary focus will be supporting live installations and the rollout of our cloud employee scheduling solution at Valero's facilities. You will work with the corporate HR department as well as local site staff.

  • Engage in all phases of the application development lifecycle (e.g. requirements gathering, planning, analysis, design, build, implementation, and support).
  • Bring in new ideas to improve current applications and processes
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all corporate and refinery business partners
  • Test and train end-users on new applications, features, or fixes.
  • Take support calls from business teams to provide troubleshooting and solution services.
  • Travel up to 25%.


This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent.
  • 8 years of experience in business application design, configuration (or development), and implementation.
  • Experience in the implementation of a Cloud Timekeeping and Scheduling Tool such as Workforce Software or UKG Kronos/Dimensions.
  • Experience in gathering data using pay policies and contracts to facilitate the configuration of Workforce Software or UKG Kronos/Dimensions.
  • Experience in project management or team lead role
  • Experience in a supervisory role (coaching, providing feedback, evaluations)
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Skype)
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience building reports with Crystal Reports, SSRS, and/or SAP Reporting Tools.
  • Experience in systems design, programming, testing, and/or implementation preferred.
  • Business or technical experience integrating with SAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerBI.
