Description

Vitalant, dedicated to saving lives through blood donation, is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer to support our cloud-based systems and infrastructure, focusing on architecture, design, and implementation. This role is responsible for deploying a secure and highly available cloud infrastructure. Additionally, the Senior Cloud Engineer will develop and establish operating standards and procedures to ensure optimal performance and security. This position will work in the Scottsdale, AZ National Headquarters 3 days a week and work from home 2 days a week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates recommendations concerning cloud solutions and architecture to guide managers for strategic planning.
  • Researches, analyzes, and designs PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems, including writing specifications, preparing documentation, and performing implementations. Plans, organizes, schedules and tracks activities to meet established deadlines.
  • Provides primary support for PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems. Overseesinstallation, configuration, and testing of new or upgraded PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud based systems.
  • Reviews and architects PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based installations. Adjusts and tunes configurations to ensure uniformity, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Manages PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems design, and implementation efforts and establishes appropriate priorities.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors to ensure that requirements are met, and goals are accomplished in completing PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems changes.
  • Supports the establishment of cloud-based infrastructure standards and procedures and helps educate users on cloud-based infrastructure policies.
  • Supports the development and implementation of PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems security policies, plans and procedures (e.g., security architectures, operating system, firewall policies, networking, and security data collection systems).
  • Remains abreast of changes and developments in the industry. Establishes and maintains a network of professional relationships both inside and outside the corporation.
  • Uses available cloud-based infrastructure tools to evaluate the impact of new applications on systems performance and costs to make recommendations for minimizing any impact on performance and overall cost.
  • Evaluates projects involving PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based infrastructure, researches the technical alternatives, and recommends technical solutions.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring assigned cloud-based infrastructure budgets.


Requirements

Knowledge/ Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Advanced knowledge of deployment and support of major Cloud vendors infrastructures, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Azure required.

Knowledge of PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems and their impact on design and implementation strategies required.

Experience supporting 24x7 Mission Critical systems required.

Knowledge of project planning and control required.

Licenses/Certifications

One or more of the following certifications (or other vendor equivalents) preferred.

• Microsoft Azure Solution Architect Expert

Or

• AWS Solutions Architect

Experience

Five years of experience in the design, implementation, support and management of

PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, Cloud-based systems required.

Or

Without completion of at least one of the certifications listed under Licenses

Certifications:

Experience with cloud infrastructure systems design and architecture required.

Cloud-based automation tools preferred.

Azure Virtual Desktop preferred.
