As our Data Center Construction Manager (CM)], you will be a part of a diverse, upbeat, and creative team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading examples of energy efficient and cost-effective designs.

You will:

• \tOwn project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction of new builds or general capital projects.

• \tOwn construction project management and oversight of construction related activities.

• \tWork alongside partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our Customers.

• \tBe a leader in your specific discipline (construction management, building services, architectural, electrical or mechanical engineering).

• \tRepresent Amazon's owner's representative on construction sites daily, as, interacting with construction trades.

Key job responsibilities

• \tBe Amazon's construction representative on multiple data centers building and capital improvement construction project sites from construction start through hand-off to operations.

• \tDirect interface with construction general contractors during the construction bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases.

• \tCreate construction project scope and request for proposals.

• \tConduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids and proposals with detail and accuracy.

• \tManage and drive cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction contractors and vendors.

• \tPerform construction project management activities, including management of documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.

• \tDrive construction teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause failure analysis on equipment failures.

• \tSupport commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight.

• \tSupport operations of installed facilities, including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.

• \tSupport capital request creation.

• \tAnalyze and report construction progress and financials.

• \tRecord and report key construction metrics to team members and management.

• \tContribute to construction initiatives aimed at improving construction efficiency and increasing data center resiliency.

• \tProvide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimization of existing data centers.

About the team

Portage, Indiana will NOT be the permanent reporting location. This is a temporary location until the final location in the Indiana region is finalized.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• \tBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science plus 7+ years of relevant construction experience, OR 11+ years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.

• \t6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.

• \t6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI and submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• \tMS in Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural)

• \t10+ Yrs. Exp in Construction Management of large-scale projects\t

• \t10+ Yrs. Exp. Project Management and Vendor Management\t

• \t5+ Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and electrical engineering principals\t

• \t5+ Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and mechanical engineering principals\t

• \tExperience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure\t

• \tCertified as a Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)\t

• \tPrior AWS/Amazon experience\t

• \t5+ Yr. Military Service
