The Senior Data Analyst will work collaboratively with a team of investigators on a PCORI-funded project with the goal of identifying patients with diabetes who are likely to have an adverse treatment outcome. The SDA will work on developing and implementing machine learning algorithms for predictive models, with a focus on neural network / machine learning algorithms. The SDA will collaborate with other members of the team to identify and process appropriate data categories, build analytical pipelines and evaluate their performance.

The ISPM will work across all phases of the research project, including study design; development, implementation and evaluation of analytical algorithms / predictive models; and drafting presentations at academic conferences and manuscripts for publications in scientific journals. Additionally, the ISPM will be a strong communicator, both verbally and written, in order to convey key data and data analytics.

• Extracts data from a variety of clinical and other information system

• Chooses appropriate machine learning methods for analyzing datasets. Performs analysis using python, R, SQL and other tools as appropriate and develops reports.

• Works closely with the research team to ensure accurate collecting and recording of data

• Implement study-specific procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and internal best practice

• Conducts data analysis using a range of machine learning methods and a variety of tool

• Independently monitors data for anomalies and investigates any problems or inconsistencies.

• Develops data mapping between health systems and related documentation and conducts validation.

• Establishes data quality and validation processes. Performs QA and develops system documentation.

• Participates in meetings to review and discuss analytic methodologies and results.

• Participates in other aspects of research, including study design, qualitative data analysis, academic manuscript writing and grant writing as relevant to the programmer/analyst's skills and interests.

• Works autonomously and requires minimal supervision by management

• Mentors junior data analysts and programmers on the team

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics or computer science, with at least 4 years' experience in research environments and relevant research experience in the analysis of complex dataset

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in healthcare field and/or data analysis or programming

• Proficiency with python programming and familiarity with PyTorch library (required)

• Experience implementing neural network algorithms, including RNN-LSTM and transformer algorithms (required).

• Commitment to writing clean, well-documented code

• Ability to work independently to efficiently accomplish specific responsibilitie

• Must be able to work independently and display initiative to introduce innovations to research studies.

• Able to manage entire project and also possess high level of technical expertise

• Demonstrated statistical/analytical and reasoning skills to perform high level problem solving

• Superior organizational and data management skill

• Ability to give general direction to other

• Strong analytic and computer skills with extensive knowledge of machine learning technique
