The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Data Scientist, the Sr. Data Scientist takes an active role in advancing the Data Science practice at Qurate, not only by executing some of the most complex and highest-priority modeling and measurement projects, but also by proactively identifying and building support for projects and capabilities that will provide the greatest business impact.

The Sr. Data Scientist is expected to own at least one advanced model from end to end. This means being responsible for researching and developing the analytical approach, engineering input data sets, building, testing and revising models, presenting results to stakeholders, incorporating feedback, and, where applicable, coordinating with Tech teams to promote models to production systems.

As a thought leader, the Sr. Data Scientist makes project and strategy recommendations by synthesizing their deep understanding of business functions and systems with an up-to-date understanding of what is possible in advanced analytics. In order to both gain the requisite business understanding and build consensus, a successful Sr. Data Scientist must develop strong, ongoing, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners. They should feel comfortable representing the team on cross-functional projects, and should demonstrate strong communication and organization/prioritization skills.

Given their subject-matter expertise, the Sr. Data Scientist also performs a critical consulting role on others team members' and business partners' analytics projects, ensuring best practices are in place across the organization.
