Job Summary The Pathology Department is hiring a Sr. Database Analyst on a part-time basis. This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating, maintaining, and upgrading multiple FileMaker Pro 2023 databases presently used or future planned by the Histo Pathology Core within the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pathology at UT Southwestern.

Additionally, the position will be responsible for maintaining and streamlining the Core's main accessioning database, its billing interface to Oracle PeopleSoft, and an array of LIS scientific support equipment interfaces. The candidate will be responsible for designing, amending and managing other databases related to histopathologic methodology, immunohistochemistry methods and outcomes, tele-pathology image libraries, spatial-transcriptomic and spatial-proteomic methods and outcomes, and regions of histopathologic interest.

Position will work in concert with project-principles, client scientists, Accounting and Purchasing IR, and members of the Provost Office to achieve scientific and business goals utilizing FMP2023, Microsoft 365 Applications, Power-BI EDW, elements of Oracle PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain including FMSUP, FMPRD, IDR template, interface and online IDRs. Will be responsible for other histopathology related duties as needed, such as manuscript-methods writing, histologic consultation, remote accessioning, monthly billing utilizing the above listed systems, and website maintenance in Alfresco.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Life-science Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong command of histology and anatomy
  • Three-years or more experience with histology database design and management in File MakerPro.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care administration, basic science, or computer related field and three (3) years experience in field directly related to type of database maintained, including experience working with and maintaining large complex databases.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related Information Technology field may be considered as a substitution for up to two (2) years of related experience.
  • Additional years of progressively responsible related experience may be considered in lieu of stated degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Job Duties
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates existing or new database applications and recommends improvements.
  • Directs day-to-day operation and utilization of database system, maintaining its integrity, including performance tuning and monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  • Isolates and resolves problems affecting database as whole or in part.
  • Maintains optimal efficiencies in one or more databases. Installs new database applications, tables, and files.
  • Cooperates with project leaders and advises on efficient usage of database files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
