Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Senior Director, Corporate Reputation Strategy. This position is located in New Brunswick, NJ on a hybrid schedule.

Position Summary

As the Senior Director of Corporate Reputation, you will play a critical role in shaping and enhancing the reputation of our global innovative medicine business. You will oversee the development and execution of corporate brand narrative and earned media strategy. You will also work with colleagues across the company to establish an analytics and insights expertise to guide decision-making and execution.

Established as a new role within the Communications and Public Affairs organization, the Senior Director will report to the Vice President, Global Reputation and Engagement and will work collaboratively with a cross-functional group of internal stakeholders, including marketing, operations, legal, and senior leadership, to align reputation development efforts with overall business objectives.

This position requires a strong leader and strategic thinker who can lead efforts to enhance and differentiate J&J Innovative Medicine brand within the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes brand strategies to enhance J&J Innovative Medicine's reputation and drive positive brand perceptions with key stakeholders in partnership with other external-facing functions.
  • Develops, directs and implements above-product brand, reputation-enhancing strategies to deliver J&J Innovative Medicine strategic brand narrative, including brand experiences, events, strategic sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Oversees the alignment between therapeutic area programs and connection to corporate reputation initiatives. Partners with Therapeutic Area leads and Enterprise communication leads.
  • Actively seeks partnerships with reputation analytics organizations externally and throughout J&J to assess potential reputation building opportunities and measure reputational changes.
  • Works closely with functional areas such as Health Equity, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Investor Relations and other internal partners to proactively seek reputation building initiatives.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, such as marketing, communications, legal, and senior leadership, to align reputation management and engagement efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Creates, evolves and oversees implementation of core J&J Innovation Medicine narrative, ensuring organizational alignment with J&J Enterprise, MedTech business, and Innovative Medicine portfolio communications, executive communicators supporting J&J top management, and geographic regions.


o Aligns core narrative with executive communications across Innovative Medicine to ensure consistent communications across the organization.

  • Oversees brand operations, including managing budgets, resources, and cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of brand strategies.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive earned and paid media strategies aligned with corporate reputation goals and business objectives.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and best practices related to reputation management, brand strategy, and issues and crisis communication. Anticipates trends and applies them to core strategies.
  • Proactively aligns with the leaders responsible for executive communications, stakeholder engagement, newsroom and regional communication partnerships.
  • Plans and implements communications strategies that build J&J Innovative Medicine reputation.
  • Manages direct reports, supports team development and performance, oversees agency partners.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in communication or journalism preferred with liberal arts, business and political science majors/minors also considered relevant for the role.
  • 10 years of communications experience with at least 5 years' experience in reputation management and brand development.
  • Five years team performance management experience.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceuticals industry, healthcare environment and related legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, media relations, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement best practices.
  • Ability to manage complex, high-impact projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and motivating high-performing teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a proficiency in reputation monitoring tools and data analysis techniques.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing innovative reputation management strategies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear and effective messaging.
  • Outstanding executive presence and proven track record of building relationships as a trusted advisor.
  • Deeply collaborative and comfortable driving behavior change and results through influence.


Preferred

  • Experience leading direct reports and agency partners.
  • Demonstrated success within a matrixed corporate environment.
  • Proven experience working in the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical/Biotech, or MedTech industry.


Salary

The base pay range for this position is USD USD $163,000 - $282,000.

Bonus

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
