Sr. Financial Analyst (Part Time-Project Based)

Position Overview:

Colonna's Shipyard is looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst (Part Time-Project Based) to support its financial operations in Norfolk, VA.

The Sr. Financial Analyst (Part Time-Project Based) position applies mathematics, operations design techniques and/or other data collection methods to obtain quantitative, rational, basis to provide financial consultation to executive management. Specifically, the position compiles and analyzes financial data and industry trends to effectively consult the organization's leadership on middle market banking strategies that will drive organizational growth and financial stability. Job responsibilities are broad in scope and vary based on projects assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Gathers facts, analyzes data, and prepares project synopsis comparing alternatives; recommends action and prepares specifications.
• Collects qualitative and quantitative data to assess current processes, benchmark against best practices, and quantify improvement opportunities in financial management/administration.
• Performs industry research utilizing various tools and publicly available information, assist in preparing proposals, reports and schedules for use by executive leadership for planning and operational efforts.
• Applies fundamental financial principles, practices and procedures in order to complete assignments.
• Analyzes and interprets financial data to create presentations for management.
• Participates in the review and analysis of financial data.
• Ensures compliance with internal company procedures and government regulations.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelors Degree in Finance or related field (or equivalent years of relevant experience in lieu of degree) plus at least 4 years of experience supporting middle market banking operations in a key management or executive role.
• Must be detail oriented and able to perform complex financial analysis/consultation and meet critical deadlines.
• Must be able to apply logic and reasoning to identify problems and make appropriate recommendations for resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Finance or related field preferred.
• Prior experience supporting consultation to government contracting businesses preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment.
• General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 30% of the time.
• Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there is minimal exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Hear, talk, and smell.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available, but also requires safe navigation and regular partnership with operations teams within shipyard/industrial environments.
• A considerable amount of time is spent operating a personal computer.
• Must be able to climb up and down stairs and spend time moving throughout the facility and onboard marine vessels.
