This position will support SOM Otolaryngology & SOM Oral Surgery.

The Senior Financial Clearance Clinical Practice Specialist supports the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to champion and drive the long-term Johns Hopkins Medicine Shared Services vision. Provides monthly clearance related metrics to the assigned service area and works with the clinical department to mitigate any workflow barriers that are resulting in the need for overrides or inability to initiate authorization timely. Works closely with assigned service area Production Unit Managers and A/R teams for full revenue cycle picture (authorization to payment/denial trends). This position will be responsible for processing all administrative and financial components of financial clearance for assigned service area, ability to escalate requests in a timely manner and triage complex cases. This position will serve as a departmental contact for assigned service area and demonstrate an understanding of their needs, provide solutions and resolve escalations for the assigned service area. The Senior Financial Clearance Clinical Practice Specialist must have the ability to cross train staff to perform duties include managing by service line, and/or complex multi-payer insurance verification and benefit eligibility validation and prior authorizations, including obtaining and completing documentation for pre-certification and referrals/authorizations.

Hours:

Full time (40 hours)

Day Shift, Weekdays

Location: Remote

Our organization is registered for remote work in the following states: MD, VA, DC, FL, PA, and DE. To be considered for a remote or hybrid position, relocation is required to one of the registered states if not currently residing in one.

Requirements:
  • Requires minimum of Associates degree. Work experience may substitute degree (i.e. 2 years of experience for 1 year of education)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, medical office, hospital, patient access or related experience
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations desired
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes as they relate to financial clearance
  • Familiar with multiple payer insurance verification and pre-certification guidelines
  • Able to obtain payer specific details, as necessary, to ensure accurate coordination
