Job Summary:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. As the Business Partner and trusted advisor, you will develop relationships with peers, business stakeholders and internal clients to effect meaningful and relevant change across the departments with whom you partner.

Primary Duties:
  • Identify issues, patterns and trends to proactively provide insights to continuously improve business performance and/or talent solutions.
  • Provide Senior Manager coaching and development planning in order to aid succession planning and business growth.
  • Develop and support performance improvement initiatives and well as driving identification and management of forward looking promotions.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Understand, translate and execute the practices of performance management and improvement, challenging, coaching, and supporting business leaders so they may in turn hold their team members accountable for their own performance.
  • Partner with and provide support to business leaders and middle managers on a variety of team and employee topics, including conducting investigations into employee relations.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on performance-related matters in more general terms, ensuring that performance issues are documented accurately within associated tools and progress is reported.
  • Create strategy to address medium- to long-term issues surrounding employee relations, working collaboratively with the other HR Business Partners for business area inputs.
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. Effectively liaise with HR leaders and business partners to ensure consistent processes and best practices are followed.
  • Serve as a Culture Ambassador for Bell Bank.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding as needed.
  • Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
  • Know and practice LOCBUTN, our Golden Rules, and Bell Bank Customer Service Standards.
  • Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
  • Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Skills Required:
  • 10+ years of HR Experience with at least 5 years of HR Business Partner or HR Consulting experience.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior level business clients and experience in developing and implementing change initiatives with a solid track record for delivering results.
  • Experience with Employee Relations and Total Rewards.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of Bell's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Ability to establish solid relationships with all levels of an organization; strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to operate with discretion, reliability and role modelling leadership principals.
  • Ability to create, analyze, report and manipulate data as it relates to HR metrics.
  • Results oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, project management, communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and drive yourself to deliver work to a high standard.

  • Previous financial services industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of ADP HRIS or related HR technologies preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others. The employee must be able to use a keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to review detailed documents and read computer screens.

Lifting Requirements:
  1. Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
