Airswift is looking for a Transmission Line Principal Engineer to work remotely for a 1 year contract assignment with the opportunity for extension supporting our Utilities client local to Juno Beach, FL.

Job Description:

High-Level Project Overview: The I&C Project Engineer will work with a cross-functional team of station stakeholders, project leads, and project managers to evaluate modifications to plant design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review engineering products such as Design/Engineering Change packages, specifications, calculations, and technical evaluations.
  • Oversee contracted engineering work.
  • Provide technical support, input, and oversight for Factory and Site Acceptance Testing and Simulations, including reviewing procedures and observing activities.
  • Interface with primary equipment suppliers and project stakeholders for technical reviews.
  • Analyze engineering risks and failure modes, incorporating mitigation strategies into designs.
  • Report project status to the engineering team lead, project managers, and management periodically.
  • Support construction and implementation phases, including field change evaluations and resolution of technical issues.
Required Skills:
  • Experience with nuclear power plant design, systems, and components.
  • Strong background in Electrical, Computer, or I&C Engineering fields.
  • Specification, technical, and engineering writing ability.
  • Must have Design Qualification (Ensure this is clear on the candidate's CV).
Soft Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Strongly Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Nuclear Operations experience (SRO/STA).
  • Familiarity with 50.59 (or equivalent).
  • Engineering specification qualification.
  • Familiarity with nuclear power plant design, Electrical Distribution Systems, and Instrumentation and Control Systems.
  • Experience with Industrial Control Systems like DCS or PLC and associated devices, computers, and networks.
  • Hands-on experience with power generation Industrial Control Systems and advanced control techniques.
  • Knowledge of control system monitoring, testing, analysis, and theory.
  • Experience with power plant controls, steam turbine control systems, combustion turbine control systems, and balance of plant control systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronics theory.
Preferred Experience:
  • 6+ years of directly related electrical power design engineering experience in power generation, with a strong preference for a nuclear background.
  • 10+ years of industry experience.
Education:
  • A 4-year Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent extensive electrical engineering field experience is required.
  • A valid U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) license can be used in lieu of a degree.
