PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary purpose of this position is to support the identification and evaluation of potential investments in operating, information and customer-side technology consistent with the Company's Utility of the Future strategic plan. Work closely with team responsible for developing the Utility of the Future strategic plan and Smart Grid & Technology department to support technologies, products and services that are needed to help realize the goals of the plan and to assess those technologies to determine feasibility, availability, economics, market potential and customer receptivity. Primary responsibility is to support the identification and investigation of technologies that enable producers and consumers to transact on a utility platform, including core utility technology, distributed resources, and information technology. Assist in analysis and report preparation to develop business cases for these technologies. Assist with conducting modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, and other general financial and operational analysis to be included within business cases. Additional responsibilities are to plan and manage resources, finances, scope and services within a functional area of Innovation to deliver business results. Provide technology products, services and solutions on time, within budget and with the required functionality. Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with clients and vendors. Participate in developing and implementing strategy/policy. Integrate innovation and innovation driven processes within the utility operating environment. Works closely with operational units of the business to test, deploy and track the performance of technologies identified as critical to realizing the aims of the Utility of the Future strategic plan and to ensure strategic coordination and alignment. Develop, organize and present performance reports for both internal and external use. The position will work collaboratively with other departments (Finance, Regulatory Strategy, Smart Grid and Technology, Customer Operations, HR and Communications) across the enterprise, including EU and Exelon, to ensure strategic coordination and alignment.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Identify and Evaluate Innovations: Research and assess new technologies and innovations that align with our strategic goals, evaluating their potential impact and feasibility.
  • Develop and Manage Pilot Projects: Oversee pilot projects to test the viability of proposed innovations, setting objectives, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Facilitate Brainstorming Sessions: Lead workshops and brainstorming sessions with cross-functional teams to generate creative solutions to business challenges.
  • Collaborate with Product Teams: Work closely with product development teams to integrate innovative solutions into existing products or create new ones, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer needs.
  • Establish Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with startups, research institutions, and other external entities to co-develop innovative products or services.
  • Innovation Management Process: Design and implement an innovation management process, including idea submission, evaluation criteria, and selection processes.
  • Report and Present: Prepare and present reports on innovation activities, outcomes, and ROI to senior management and stakeholders, providing recommendations for scaling successful innovations.
  • Foster a Culture of Innovation: Lead initiatives to create a culture of innovation within the organization by organizing educational events, sharing success stories, and recognizing contributions.
  • Works closely with operational units of the business to test, deploy and track the performance of technologies identified as critical to realizing the aims of the Utility of the Future strategic plan and to ensure strategic coordination and alignment.

JOB SCOPE
  • Independent contributor reporting to Manager of Smart Grid Technology.
  • Takes direction from VP, Directors, Managers and/or project teams. Interacts regularly with other lines of business.
  • Provides periodic written/oral presentation to managers, key managers and other stakeholders.
  • Able to travel across Exelon sites and business units (up to 20%)
  • May require working extended hours and/or shift work to support business operations.
  • Determine and help others learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Make judicious decisions in familiar and new situations and contributes to strategic decisions.
  • Represent business client's perspective with Technology Innovation team.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to embrace continual changes and able inspire and bring others along with those changes. Capable to switch easily between tasks.

  • Understand and navigate the strategic landscape across the Exelon corporation with various levels of personnel in Customer Operations, IT, Regional Operations, Distribution Operations, Transmission Operations, Corporate Security, Communications, Regulatory, and Legal, as well as with external organizations.
  • The ability to influence and build relationships across the organization into the work force, and among the leadership team is critical. Position will serve as a change agent in the organization.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (business administration, engineering, finance, etc) with at least 5 years industry related experience.
  • Customer focus driven with strong interpersonal skills and solid written and oral skills
  • Ability to translate project initiatives to core team members and business units
  • Demonstrated adaptability to apply strategic and critical thinking to problem solving
  • Ability to work productively with diverse teams
  • Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in technology and innovation.
  • Self-starter who can identify opportunities based on other industries and analogous businesses. Creative thinker, intellectually curious, and interested in emerging technologies
  • Strong organization and project management skills to manage cross-functional projects with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high expectations. Ability to work effectively across organizational levels and with external partners.
  • Expert analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
  • Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate degree in Technology, MBA or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with technology, innovation and start-up culture.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, customer needs, and technological advancements.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, with a passion for driving change and innovation.
  • Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with external entities.
