General Description: Manages, maintains, and organizes the course reserves collection which provides students with access to print materials, including textbooks, supplementary readings, and other physical items. Must be available to provide evening coverage as needed.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Receives, catalogs, and processes materials for the course reserves collection and makes them available to students in a timely manner.
  • Initiates and facilitates communication with teaching faculty and academic divisions on course reserve policies and procedures.
  • Responds to patron inquiries related to the course reserve collection and policies.
  • Responsible for providing daily circulation services including processing and fulfilling intercampus loan and/or interlibrary loan requests.
  • Shelves library materials and performs shelf maintenance.
  • Collects library fees and maintains reconciliation documentation for card transactions.
  • Processes materials to be added and/or withdrawn from the print collection.
  • Provides general reference services to meet the information needs of a diverse community of patrons using a variety of print and electronic library resources and refers patrons needing further assistance to librarians.
  • Provides technology assistance and instruction to patrons including printing and basic computer skills using standard academic technology platforms.
  • Provides administrative support and outreach services for library staff and patrons.
  • Supervises and trains work study students as needed.




Essential Functions: Manages and maintains the course reserve collection. Provides circulation and general reference services. Provides technology assistance and instruction. Provides administrative support and outreach services. May supervise work study students.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
  • Knowledge of integrated library management and discovery systems including circulation and cataloging, online public access catalog, the Library of Congress classification system and academic research databases.
  • Knowledge of library policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite and general computer and printing troubleshooting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.




Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience providing circulation services using an integrated library system.
  • Experience assisting patrons with the operation of library computers, printers, photocopiers, scanners, etc.
  • Experience assist patrons in navigating the library catalog, library databases, and locating physical library materials.


Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing circulation services in a community college and/or academic library.
  • Experience with integrated library systems, including Alma and Primo.
  • Experience using Canvas, PeopleSoft, and Springshare products.
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress Classification System.
  • Supervisory experience.
