DESCRIPTION

The Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion is an outpatient clinical facility on UC San Diego Health's La Jolla campus. The facility includes eight surgery suites, basic and advanced imaging, physical therapy and pain management - plus infusion and apheresis services. The four-floor, 156,000-square-foot facility opened in March of 2018.

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, and patient education. Position requires initiative, able to prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgment, and the ability to work in a team environment. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities and to quickly assess moderately complex problems to develop potential solutions.
  • Proven knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Possess excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to triage symptoms and educate patients.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Infusion center experience.
  • One (1+) or more years of oncology experience.
  • Ambulatory outpatient clinic experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work various hours and location based on business needs.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • The typical schedule is M-F with occasional weekend work.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,410 - $88,782 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.20 - $42.52

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
