As a manager in the AWS CEO Strategic Speaking team, this role evaluates and supports a wide range of internal and external speaking opportunities. They offer counsel to the CEO on speaking and messaging strategy, develop informational briefs covering both messaging content and event logistics, manage efficient prep sessions with the CEO, and provide recommendations to the CEO on incoming speaking invitations. This role often supports the CEO onsite at recordings or speaking events. They partner with a wide variety of subject matter experts, from service team leaders to senior executives in order to develop and shape presentations, messaging documents, briefing materials, and other content that clearly communicates and advances the thought leadership position of AWS worldwide.

This role must be conversant with best practices for different media types-live presentations, in-studio prerecorded videos, live broadcasts, and more. They must be self-directed and able to balance speed with accuracy. They must demonstrate high judgement in driving both messaging content and logistics details. The role requires managing and presenting a constant cadence of documents, briefings, and reviews to the CEO and many SVP- and VP-level executives.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent writing skills and have a background in technology communications-ideally with a cloud-focused organization. They have experience preparing executives for both extemporaneous and scripted speaking engagements, in person and via video. They can adapt a core message to multiple audiences and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a collaborative working style. Be ready to show us that you can absorb a highly technical topic quickly and distill it into compelling ideas that appeal to different audiences.

This position must be located in Seattle, WA. Candidate should have the ability to come into the office at least three days a week. Relocation to this location only offered from within the U.S.A only.

Key job responsibilities

- Support the strategic speaking program for the AWS CEO.

- Research and write talking points and scripts for a variety of topics, audiences, and engagement types.

- Work collaboratively with senior executives, PR, internal communications, product marketing, legal, etc., to ensure the accuracy of messaging.

- Research and evaluate speaking opportunities against executive and company priorities, and provide succinct, yet informative recommendations to the CEO.

- Serve as a resource to internal and external teams requesting CEO participation in various speaking engagements.

- Become fluent in both AWS's and CEO's communication style, tone, and voice.

- Influence and maintain global, organization-wide consistency for written communications.

- Serve as a bar raiser and coach for writing quality in marketing (reviewing, editing, and quality checking).

- Some travel (less than 25%) may be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment, high-tech products/services

- - 5 years experience supporting external communications (internal comms ok, but not as only experience.)

- - 5+ years experience supporting high-level executives (C-suite for smaller org/Sr. VP+ for larger org)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Are 18 years of age or older

- Experience in marketing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $94,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
