Sr. Manufacturing Equipment Engineer, Seats

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to create manufacturing equipment and processes for our JIT Seat Manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Engineer applies technical knowledge and expertise in the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment. Responsible for working with cross functional team to manage design, procurement and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, tooling and fixtures.



Responsibilities

• Design of novel manufacturing assembly/test equipment andfixtures by collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver a completesolution
• Specification development for manufacturing equipment
• Collaborate and manage external equipment suppliers fromdesign to buy off
• Validation and characterization of new equipment and fixturesfor introduction to the production floor
• Create equipment drawings, layouts, schematics, Oms, PMprocedures, and critical spares list to maximize OEE of equipment
• Train technicians and line associates on manufacturingprocesses
• Specification of hand tools for manual assembly tasks
• Design of production workstations for ergonomics andefficiency
• Performance of process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancingand capacity modeling

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience as a hands-onmechanical/manufacturing/design engineer working on mechanical and/orelectromechanical systems.
• Proficiency in designing mechanical equipment, fixtures andtooling in CAD (SolidWorks or Catia is preferred), manufacturing drawings,GD&T
• Experience with NI Test Stand and Labview is preferred
• Experience with SQL and Python programming is preferred
• Understanding of typical control panel components and wiring schematics
• Familiarity with compliances and Legal requirement ofautomotive seating regulation
• Experience in Automotive seating or interiors is preferred
• Basic exposure or understanding of PLC programming
• Able to work under pressure while managing competing demandsand tight deadlines

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $264,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
