About the Role

Within GS is the Strategy & Operations (GSSO) team, whose mission is to support GS through integrated business support functions, product management, demand planning and forecasting, deal strategy, and more. We strive to understand our customers' experiences and partner with teams to inspire bold thinking, iterate on ideas, and deliver solutions that help AWS GS deliver the best experience to our customers and colleagues. Within AWS GSSO, the GS Strategic Initiatives Senior Manager is responsible for identifying top priority initiatives, testing these with internal and external customers, and creating the long-term implementation plan in the form of a three-year plan and OP1/2. This is a highly strategic and visible role, requiring strong partnership and collaboration with Product and Tech teams, Sales, Business Development, and key internal stakeholders. This role will have additional responsibilities that arise, which may include helping support M&A, ad hoc strategic initiatives that are high priorities for the business, opportunity/risk management, cross-org alignment, and more.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of managing through influence and delivering real-world impact. In this role, the leader will define a vision, build and execute upon a three-year roadmap, build and deliver upon annual goals (e.g., OP1/2), engage with senior leaders to align on priorities, and lead the team in delivering insights and improvements across the globe. The ideal candidate will excel at earning trust of senior leaders, communicating multi-faceted findings clearly, and using data and sound business judgment to drive and influence strategic decisions. The leader in this role must have exceptional writing skills.

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as single threaded owner to lead and define the GS 3YP strategy for the organization, including resource plans and roadmaps; think big about the team's approach that help inform goals, priorities, metrics, processes, and mechanisms to ensure the highest standards are achieved. Own the end-to-end process for formulating and communicating long-term strategic business plans to senior leaders and internal stakeholders.

- Serve as single threaded owner to lead and define the GS OP1/2 strategy for the organization, including resource plans and roadmaps.

- Guide visible strategic projects for GS including developing an understanding of our goals and environment, and analyzing and optimizing performance.

- Apply an organization-wide leadership lens to translate strategic directions and priorities into short-term and long-term business plans that incorporate opportunities for scalable growth.

- Champion bold ideas to evolve and grow the capabilities of GS. Actively provide an "outside-in" perspective and recommendations to executive leadership on strategic priorities based on customer experience, and competitive and consumer intelligence.

- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and other senior leaders, enabling the organization to effectively engage key areas of the business. Work closely with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, and others to identify areas of focus.

- Establish and own plans that remove blockers and improve the performance of the teams.

- Provide leadership across organizations, driving success internally and externally on long-term business plans derived from large-scale analysis; change the strategic direction of the organization as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of experience in operations, sales, or business/corporate development, preferably within technology companies.

- Experience in a collaborative leadership role is ideal. 5+ years of influencing or leading global teams across technical and non-technical domains.

- 5+ years' experience setting a vision and communicating goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization.

- Project management skills with the ability to set goals and prioritize programs.

- Demonstrated ability to serve as an expert in managing and navigating cross-functional efforts, as this position will partner with multiple Amazon teams and others to deliver on growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, trade-offs, and opportunistic new ideas with technical employees.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
