The Role
At Tesla we always strive to build the best possible cars for our customers. We do this by implementing new materials and components that improve the car as a whole or address specific issues related to quality or functionality. As a technical product manager for the MFS Software Engineering team, the team member's responsibilities will be focused on software used to signal and transact replenishment material to the Production lines. This team member will be required to collect user requirements, troubleshoot and analyze the software for sustaining warehousing, yard management and inside factory material movement operations. They will document requirements, schedule software releases, manage the software development lifecycle, come up with test cases, and train the end user. The role will report to the software development team and work under the same team with developers and QA engineers, and cross functionally with business stakeholders including supply chain, production control, production quality, finance and inventory control.


Responsibilities
  • Designs and improves UI and UX for Tesla's Material Flow Software with focus on Replenishment Call-Off systems, Yard Management, Warehousing and Factory Conveyance
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis and recommends corrective actions on software/systems related issues impacting day to day operations
  • Assists in creating Work Instructions/User Manual on utilizing the software effectively, training and evaluating departmental personnel
  • Assists process engineers and business managers as an expert in Tesla's Material Flow Software and Configuration
  • Utilizes project management skills to successfully plan, manage, and implement the software in new plants and new production shops
  • Drives inter-departmental initiatives and changes to material flow systematical processes with the goal of cost reduction and process improvement
  • Working knowledge of design/development of manufacturing systems with emphasis on supply chain material flow, conveyance and warehousing
  • Understanding the "why" behind the needs, and prioritize efficiently based on impact through detailed knowledge of software performance and warehousing operations performance
  • Measure deliverables based on desired impact versus actual impact, through KPI's that measure the performance of software individually and as a whole system with business operations
  • Understand software integration requirements in a multi-software package product environment


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent preferred
  • Preferred candidates will have 5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in automotive industry and 24/7 operational multi plant environments preferred
  • %15 Travel involved during major software launches or updates in new plants globally
  • Working experience with an ERP software both as an end user as well as software requirements and deliverables planner
  • Leadership Style: Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with high level of self-motivation. Must be able to work on own initiative and work well in a group
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with product management tools such as JIRA, Confluence
  • Proficiency in and the ability to model and implement the following concepts: empowerment and teamwork; TPS leadership philosophy and human resources practices; kaizen; standardized work; PDCA and problem solving; 5S; quality improvement tools; JIT production tools including: Value Stream Mapping, lead-time reduction, set-up time reduction, process flow improvement

    • Expected Compensation

      $88,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
