Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking an operations manager for the "Food as Medicine in Cancer Care Food Resource Center Initiative"

Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:

The VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking to hire an operations manager to oversee the Food as Medicine in Cancer Care, Food Resource Center initiative.

This initiative is currently being funded by a generous three-year grant from the McKesson corporation.

This is a non-academic position with an appointment in the Massey Cancer Center.

The operations manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the implementation of this three-year grant as well as working with the Cancer Survivorship Program and Massey Cancer Center Leadership to expand and sustain this initiative. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Working with the Cancer Service Line and Medical Center Leadership in the implementation and management of the Massey Cancer Center Food Resource Center.
  • Supervising staff involved which will include ensuring adequate staffing is in place.
  • Overseeing food safety and handling practices and ensuring all staff are trained on food safety protocols.
  • Ensuring the collection of quality metrics including tracking utilization of resources and patient use.
  • Working with dieticians to facilitate patient education activities including cooking demonstrations.
  • Collecting survey instruments and ensuring data is stored adequately.
  • Preparing regular reports.
  • Working with researchers to facilitate nutrition-based education research initiatives.
  • Working with the Director of the Cancer Survivorship Program and Massey Leadership to ensure the long-term sustainability of this program by developing outside partnerships and securing additional funding.
