As a Senior Radiation Therapy Technologist , you will administer radiation therapy treatments, performs simulation procedures, and assists in the planning of radiation therapy treatments, Documents all aspects of patient's treatment in medical records. Supports the chief therapist and technical director in implementing new policies and procedures and attaining departmental and organizational goals. Assists Chief Therapist in the daily operation of the Radiation Therapy Center. Interacts with the Physician and all office staff members to ensure patients are treated promptly. Communicates with the Chief Therapist and supports Chief Therapist in attaining department goals.

Primary Duties:

• R ecords all aspects of simulation, treatment delivery, and billing. Proficient with all aspects of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) . Consistently utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) Checklist. Runs the Contingency Report. Responsible for daily operations in the Chief Therapis t 's absence . Keeps treatment/CT simulator rooms and console areas organized and stocked. Notifies chief therapist of technical supplies needed. Reports and documents all treatment unit/simulator malfunctions to the physicist / engineer . Observes all rules / regulations concerning radiation safety. Demonstrates the ability to access, updat e, send and review performance goals / evaluations.

• Actively participates in all QA procedures by ensuring all aspects of weekly chart review are completed. Performs dose verification and documents. Verifies and records SSD's weekly. Acquires all necessary patient imagin g . Assists chief therapist ensur ing cha rts are accurate and complete. Schedu les simu lation and treatment procedu res . Provides patients with initial appointment and treat ment ca lendar. Resolve treatment schedule conflicts by the end of the day. Evaluates missed appointments with patients / family and documents in the EMR.

• Operates the CT (Computed Tomography) simulator, and necessary equipment . P erform s mornin g quality assurance procedu re, emerg ency shutdown procedu re, and f ollows the operation manual for the CT Scanner. Performs HDR, Mold Room duties , urethrograms , oral , IV Contrast , and Time -Out procedure . P rovides patien t educat ion on what to expect during the procedure. Fabricates immobilization devices. Verify all consent forms are signed . Uses the EMR Policy / Procedure manual. Completes all appropriate doc umentatio n , photographs, associations, QCL, and bil ling .

• Interacts professionally with all departments , patients, and family members . Evaluates the patient's condition and inform s the physician if their attention is required . Documents any symptoms or problems in the patient chart . D emonstrates concern for patient comfort. Treats patients and family members with courtesy and respect. Performs document scanning. Relays staff therapists' concerns to the Chief Therapist and supports decisions made by the team . Assists and supports the Chief Therapist, Technical Director, and physicist in the implementation of new processes, procedures, treatment modalities etc.

• Assists in training new staff , including students. Completes all necessary student/visitor forms and forwards them to the Chief Therapist. Completes all student clinical evaluations. Operates the linear accelerator(s) . Administers radiation therapy treatments safely and competently. Provides on-going patient education by reinforcing the physician's advice regarding skin care, diet, and treatment side ef fects, an d reactions. Provides patients with education on what to expect dur ing treatment. Performs hand calculations/ RadCalc dose verifications. Delivers radiation t reatmen ts.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology .

• Bachelor's degree p referred .

• 3 years of progressive experience in the clinical setting.

• Must hold a Maryland Board of Physicians License 'O' as a Radiation Therapist, or 'M' as a Radiation Therapist and Radiographer.

• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Certification).

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification with AED.
