Job Summary
The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a Senior Research Associate to join our team!
First, the Senior Research Associate will join research directed by Dr. Nora Gimpel to explore community health outcomes through Student-Run Free Clinics. Data collection to measure success of the programs, such as the number of students participating and percentage of student participation benchmarked to peer academic medical centers, the number of patients and clinical encounters, and the number of quality-improvement and research projects generated from the program.
Second, the Research Associate Senior will join research directed by Dr. Rebecca Eary. Her research area focuses on medical and psychological care of cancer survivors, especially those with a history of childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancers. Her needs for research support include a candidate with strong communication skills, organization, experience working with data sets (cleaning, coding, running basic statistics). Experience working on teams that are multidisciplinary is crucial., including the ability to be independently productive. A working knowledge of the academic publication process would be highly regarded. The successful candidate will be integrally involved in working with research collaborators across disciplines (family medicine, community health, nursing, epidemiology, public health, psychology, oncology, etc.) to support the coordination of research efforts, and supporting the interpretation of study findings to maximize their benefit for at-risk populations. As such, we aim to find a candidate who is passionate about working in healthcare, and with diverse communities. The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong communication skills, with evidence of team-based collaboration in fast-paced environments.
This will be a hybrid role, days in office and days remotely will be determined upon hire.

Experience and Education
- Ph.D. degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required.
- Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and five (5) years laboratory experience, including at least two (2) years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and six (6) years laboratory experience, including at least two (2) years at level of Research Associate or equivalent.
- PREFERRED : The ideal candidate has experience within public health or clinical research
- Organizes laboratory to which assigned; determines work assignments of subordinates, advising them as to techniques, procedures, and equipment to be utilized in solution of work problems; and reviews completed work for professional quality and attainment of desired results.
- Compiles and evaluates research data; develops new or revised techniques and procedures based upon such data.
- Performs or supervises design, development, or adaptation of equipment or apparatus used in research experiments to obtain desired results.
- Compiles and analyzes results of research assignments, and submits to principal investigator.
- Instructs medical students, graduate students, residents, and other laboratory personnel of lower grade with respect to techniques, procedures, and equipment utilized in research or experiments.
- Confers with industrial, governmental, or other professional groups with respect to progress or results of research assignment.
- Assists principal investigator and other professional personnel in preparation of reports and papers for publication, usually exercising responsibility for writing of particular segment or phase of report or paper.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
