Strategic Analysis, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented (Sr. Scientist/Engineer) to join our dynamic team and support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Biological Technologies Office (DARPA BTO). In this role you will support a government program manager at DARPA in the development and management of programs focused on research into: (1) photo-switchable drug development (2) study of neural communication pathways and (3) interventional strategies to improve warfighter resilience to occupational stressors like sleep deprivation.

Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough research on the latest advancements and breakthroughs in biotechnology through various sources such as scientific journals, industry publications, patents, and conference proceedings.
•Analyze and interpret complex scientific data, literature, and market reports to identify trends, potential opportunities, and risks in the biotechnology sector.
•Analyze a variety of information and intelligence of threats facing the systems, assets, and resources critical to the national defense and develop research studies and recommendations.
•Create detailed reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations based on research findings to guide decision-making processes.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and support business strategies.
•Monitor and evaluate competitor activities, product launches, and intellectual property portfolios in the biotechnology industry.
•Stay up to date with regulatory requirements and changes in the biotechnology sector and ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
•Provide expertise and guidance on scientific and technological aspects to internal stakeholders.
•Provide additional analysis in response to specific threats and incident reports, as needed.

Requirements
•Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in one of the following or related areas: chemistry/biochemistry or engineering (chemical, biochemical, biomedical).
•Well-versed in organic chemistry either in the synthesis of small molecules or photo-active molecules.
•Have additional research experience in the development and synthesis of photo-active molecules for therapeutic applications either in an academic or industry laboratory.
•Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex scientific information.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
•Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
•Proficiency in using software applications such as Microsoft Office, data visualization tools, and scientific databases.
•Possess prior FDA regulatory experience, government contracting support experience, preferably development of new start programs, source selection, and interactions with program performers at ARPA organizations.
•Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance at the secret level or above. Candidates with active clearance are preferred.
