AWS is looking for an experienced Software

Development Engineer who will be part of a team working on AWS Intent Driven Network. We are completely re-imagining how the AWS network is managed. A key part of this project is building a suite of management plane services from the ground-up, which the network fabric teams will use to scale and manage the networks. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery of new services and features is very rapid. You have an opportunity to shape how one of the largest networks on the planet is going to be operated for at least the next decade. The ideal candidate will demonstrate established software engineering expertise, having successfully developed and launched extensive distributed systems in collaboration with a team. You are adaptable, capable of excelling in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting. You will be responsible for delivering high quality, extensible holding the code quality high, and expected to mentor and guide junior engineers. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and are able to bring order to ambiguous scenarios. You identify and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency. Maturity, impeccable judgment, and the ability to influence and lead are essential to success in this role. You are data-driven and analytical. You have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, across organizations and up to senior leadership.

About the team

Within AWS Networking, the AWS Intent Driven Network (AIDN) team creates services and tools that make it easier for Amazon to manage and grow the AWS Network. We own an array of services and tools, ranging from highly-available distributed systems, to customer-facing Command Line Interface's (CLIs) which bring a variety of engineering problems to solve. The team is working to build and deliver a long-lasting solution for our customers that will change the way the AWS Network is managed.

The team seeks to maintain a high-bar through thoughtful team-wide design and code reviews with senior leaders. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 6+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
