You will lead our environmental, health, safety initiatives for the Matco Tools Tool Storage plant and serve in an advisory capacity for the corporate location and distribution centers. Experience is required in all aspects to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations while driving continuous improvement.
  • Develop comprehensive EHS procedures (examples: Emergency Response, First Responders, LOTO, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Hazardous Materials communication, etc)
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team during emergency/ fire drills
  • Deploy safety training and safety review boards
What are the top two to three immediate objectives?
  • Reduction of recordable injuries through the implementation of a comprehensive safety program
  • Develop comprehensive continuous improvement plan and utilize in-house team and contractors to bring facility into compliance for EH&S requirements.
What are the major problems to be solved and improvements that need to be made?
  • Injury reduction
  • Transition to leading indicator versus lagging
  • Integration of EHS in all processes
  • Total associate involvement and ownership at all levels
  • Implement visual daily management
What obstacles, negative circumstances, or problems will the incumbent need to solve?
  • Underperforming safety metrics based on Industry standards
  • Workplace safety/worker, Occupational health/industrial hygiene and Environmental risks not identified, written procedures and controls not in place for all the activities (routine and non-routine) inherent to the operation
  • Leadership not actively engaged or involved in EHS programs
  • High variation and lack of Lean principles in processes
  • Inconsistent use of PPE and safety rules
  • No focus or tracking of leading EHS indicators
  • High likelihood of targeted OSHA inspection and serious injury
  • BS in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • 10+ Years' experience in Facilities/Maintenance/EHS field
  • 10+ Years' experience Working knowledge of ergonomic principles
  • 10+ Years' experience working knowledge OSHA regulations
  • Must be skilled in Microsoft Office and have strong computer skills
  • Must have a creative approach to problem solving
