Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced, agile test engineer to join our Surveillance & Automation Solutions Team. This position offers hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting hardware and software in a dynamic environment. This role will work closely with systems engineers, software developers, and test engineers to deploy new capabilities to the operational network, perform tech refresh of hardware, and troubleshoot issues.

The primary responsibility of the test engineer in this position is to perform the following:
  • Provide daily Tier III engineering support (troubleshooting complex operational issues, performing root cause analysis, working with FAA staff, etc.) to a mission critical air traffic control system with a 0.99999 availability requirement.
  • Integrate hardware and software system components within a lab environment.
  • Develop test scenarios and conduct acceptance tests for Level 2 requirements of software applications and hardware.
  • Coordinate the integration of remote radios and radars into the operational system while troubleshooting issues such as RF interference, hardware, and network issues.
  • Implement changes to the operational system including deployment of software applications, adaptation changes, and remote upgrades of radios, network equipment and servers.
  • Work daily with Field Engineers & Technicians to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Independently work to prioritize customer issues and needs.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with 4+ years of prior related experience; 4+ years of ATCA, FAA systems, or NAS air traffic management industry experience. In Lieu of degree, 10 years of systems related experience.
  • Experience with Windows & Linux operating systems, including shell scripting.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting complex system-related issues, performing root cause analysis, and correcting issues.
  • Experience trouble-shooting complex systems consisting of hardware, software, and communications systems.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Understanding of the System of Systems National Airspace System (NAS) architecture and its relation to the NAS functional and performance requirements.
  • Experience with integration of solutions into mixed on-premises and Cloud environments.
  • Experience applying data analytics to enable risk-based decision making and efficient system operations.
