Smurfit Westrock - Chemical Recovery Operations Maintenance Coordinator, Cotton, AL

The Opportunity:

As Chemical Recovery Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) you will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of operating assets, achieving department objectives for equipment reliability and maintenance budgets, and facilitating sound business decisions regarding the requirements for equipment maintenance versus productivity goals. You will provide support to the Power and Recovery Manager, Chemical Recovery Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendents, while working with Maintenance Supervisors and Planners for the coordination required to maintain and ensure operating reliability. Overall, you will serve as the liaison between maintenance and production to effectively communicate and schedule planned maintenance work orders. You will report directly to the Chemical Recovery Superintendent.

Safety and Environmental

• Support Chemical Recovery in adhering to Safety and Environmental goals
• Own the LOTO team and work to ensure consistency and accuracy of LOTO procedures
• Own the MOC process, ensure it is followed
• Ensure we follow SOPs related to safe and proper shutdown and startup of equipment
• Participate in safety and refresher training meetings

Cost and Efficiency

• Aid in Control of break-in and emergency work orders by supporting data driven decisions
• Work to control Maintenance Cost and Budget
• Responsible for routine maintenance planning and execution
• Responsible for assisting in shutdown and outage planning and coordination
• Directly work with the Maintenance Reliability Department to improve reliability by addressing bad actors and participating in RCFAs
• Drive proper Maintenance Planning and ensure availability of parts

Communication

• Drive and implement the DMS (Daily Management Strategy) program relating to maintenance
• Work to ensure consistency and provide training to supervisors as it pertains to EPAM
• Be present and engaged in daily maintenance planning meetings and operations turnover meetings
• Provide a daily report to operations and maintenance on the maintenance backlog, completed scheduled and break-in, job scheduling and priority
• Screen work orders for legitimacy and provide feedback to supervisors
• Communicate the cost of poor reliability and emergency work to supervisors and crews

Operations

• Fill in for Day Staff as needed
• Provide technical support and problem-solving techniques to Operations and Maintenance

What you will need to succeed:

• High School diploma, G.E.D.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5-10 years of experience in Pulp and Paper industry
• Possess computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to utilize SAP.
• Working knowledge of paper mill equipment, processes, and language used to describe such in this industry.
• Ability to work within a 24/7 mill operations facility.
• Be a strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions which impact safety, operations, and productivity.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization.
