THE OPPORTUNITY:
Position Purpose: Directly responsible for organizing, training operators, direct manufacturing and supervisory activities in aspects of the OCC Plant (Secondary Fiber). Major responsibility is for optimizing pulp production, profitability, and quality while assuring safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping are maintained for the 24-7 operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibility for meeting production, cost, quality standards and the operation of the 1000tpd OCC operation. The incumbent has the responsibility to develop long-term operational plans for annual production forecasts. Procedures are developed and supervised that closely monitor the operation of the OCC plant. Incumbent needs to maintain appropriate inventories, provide appropriate corrective actions that can be taken to minimize upsets to the plan or take full advantage of changes in production scheduling.
- Participate in day-to-day OCC plant operations and lead the execution of outages in the department. Will have responsibility to help develop outage packages and timelines for the OCC Plant.
- Monitoring incoming fiber quality with the assistance of the Operators and OCC Lead Person. This includes quality control of incoming fiber and taking appropriate action when quality of incoming OCC is sub-par.
- Training, development, and supervision of all OCC Team Members.
- Maintain routine communications with OCC Team, Mill Management and Regional Recycle OCC Manage (and relevant others) as to fiber quality status and updates on specific initiatives and/or quality concerns.
- Participate in weekend duty coverage every 6-7 weeks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- 1-3 years Supervisory experience in an industrial environment. Preferably in an OCC plant or on a paper machine.
- Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of all equipment within the department.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership, organizational, and troubleshooting skills with high ethical standards and energy levels.
- Must have excellent written and verbal abilities.
- Demonstrated skills in Word, Excel and Power Point. CMMS experience (JDE, SAP, Etc.) preferred.
- Technical Bachelor of Science Degree in related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in PI, Capstone, or comparable information.
Desired:
- 1-3 years of direct supervisor experience.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Technology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project.
