Sr. Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Data Center & PCBA

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities with suppliers. This position involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making.


Responsibilities

• Support critical PCBA development and qualification activities at contract manufacturers
• Plan, organize, direct, and conduct industrialization-related activities within the supply chain team
• Develop, orchestrate, audit, improve, and correct supplier planning and execution of PCBA manufacturing and assembly techniques, as well as quality control processes from the product development phase to mass production ramp
• Support PCBA New Product Introduction (NPI) at Suppliers
• Coordinate design improvements in scalability, cost, and quality through Design-for-Manufacturability (DFMs)
• Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering teams
• Lead supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet part performance, delivery, and quality expectations
• Collaborate with Tesla Design, Quality, and Reliability to determine the ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics
• Coordinate, track, and improve supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes
• Guide suppliers in developing exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of high-quality products

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong process development experience related to optical inspection, ideally related to PCBA and/or SMT manufacturing process
• Practical experience of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA)
• Solid knowledge of statistical applications
• Mechanical background with statistical tolerance analysis.
• PCBA manufacturing process background with practical experience (SMT and Thru Hole)
• Strong understanding of IATF16949
• Supplier development and management experience

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
