THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

As a Sr. Tax Analyst, you will focus on a variety of (non-income) tax types including (but not limited to) annual reports, sales & use tax, licensing, and personal property tax. You will be responsible for: audit defense preparation, sales/use tax returns, special projects like refund programs, annual reports, licensing renewals or property tax payments as needed, as well as product taxability as needed. There will be significant interface with tax department personnel, individuals in finance, IT, and business partners throughout the organization.

YO YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
  • Preparing and completing tax audits, including preparation and analysis of responses to document requests, preparation of appeals and other correspondence.
  • Preparing and analyzing the company's ASC450 reserves.
  • Leading special projects as assigned, including refund programs.
  • Preparing, filing, and monitoring for completion annual reports for assigned companies.
  • Processing and mailing tax payments.
  • Preparing budgets/forecasts for indirect tax.
  • Implementing and completing account reconciliations and journal entries for indirect tax.
  • Completing tax research for various taxing jurisdictions.
  • Meeting all statutory compliance deadlines in the time frames directed by management.
  • Monitoring current tax developments and practices, which would affect various tax liabilities.
  • Analyzing notices and correspondences from various governments and prepare responses.
  • Resolving help desk tickets/customer service questions.
  • Leading and contributing in internal meetings and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Completing coding of products for taxability, as needed.
  • Providing oversite of third party who processes our personal property tax returns for position's assigned states, as needed.
  • Processing licensing renewals and new store openings, as needed.
  • Communicating tax knowledge to Tax leadership, Finance leadership (including controller or CFO) and other department personnel
TTHE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other financial discipline or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of progressive tax experience required
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Previous personal property tax and licensing experience a plus
  • Previous experience in a large corporate tax environment, a strong plus
  • Previous experience in retail industry, a strong plus
  • Previous experience with at least 30+ states, a strong plus
  • Previous audit experience a plus
  • Previous knowledge of SAP, LHQ, Vertex, and OneSource Property Tax a plus.
  • Excel skills at intermediate level or above (vlookup, pivot table required; sumif, countif preferred)
  • General understanding of business acumen and accounting principles
  • Ability to independently set own deadlines and organize deliverables
  • Ability to analyze new or existing situations and provide solutions
  • Desire to take initiative to lead or pursue tasks and inquiries
  • Ability to work independently on tasks, including making sound decisions within responsibilities
  • Demonstrated strong user and working knowledge of tax systems, Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and database applications
  • Must be a strong team player
  • Ability to multi-task a must
  • Must conduct himself/herself in a professional, respectful, and appropriate manner at all times
  • This position requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills are essential
  • Longer working hours are required to meet tax deadlines
