Scope of Work:
The SSRS Report Designer designs and modifies queries and reports based upon customer direction, implementing query and layout best practices where they do not conflict with the customer use case. They can take requirements for new reports and can analyze data entities in order to develop new queries and reports that meet those requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

Has the ability to work with the end customer, properly representing themselves as part of (clients) engineering team. Ability to assess, refine, and document engagement requirements to meet the customer's need, and to update the Project Manager with any reasonable risk scenarios to enable engagement management. Ability to work remotely to accomplish the development and design objectives, taking care to respect (client) and Customer policies for security, change management, and data protection.

Responsibilities:
  • Recommends query and report implementation tactics to meet customers SSRS reporting requirements
  • Analyzes existing report samples and relational databases to develop queries capable of meeting the customer's reporting objective
  • Deep knowledge of ANSI SQL and Microsoft SQL server for the purpose of performing the relational database analysis and to develop the reporting queries
  • Understands query validation methodologies to ensure correct query elements are leveraged when reverse engineering a legacy report
  • Uses SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) report layout best practices, understanding the customers need to balance current generation reporting practices while keeping the layout familiar for their end users.
  • Practical knowledge of SSRS reporting publication and SSRS security best practices to ensure that approved reports are published and secured properly.

Required Skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relational databases, able to reverse engineer implicit design from database data definition.
  • Thorough knowledge of SQL to produce functional queries from relational databases, including knowledge of inner and outer joins, subqueries in column definition or in the query's where clause, and most common SQL Server functions for data type conversion, concatenation, and other common data manipulation uses.
  • Thorough knowledge of parameter query construction integration into designated reports, including parameter incorporation into the query itself, and the use of UNIONs and other parameter query techniques in order to implement functional and usable report parameters.
  • Practical knowledge of subreports, including development and integration into designated reports
  • Practical knowledge of query performance, including how to assess adequate performance, and report design choices that best implement the query performance objectives.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge
  • Applicants must have ability to work in U.S. without sponsorship and a valid Driver's License
  • Proven experience analyzing relational datasets and developing queries, layouts, and integrations to provide desired reporting from those datasets.
  • Experience in report design, development and publication procedures and technologies focused on relational databases, SQL, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Strong decision-making, analytical & problem-solving skills to provide direction, identify & resolve issues
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation, and training skills to communicate with a diverse group of employees and vendors

Working conditions

This position is a Professional Services contract position and will be remote, assuming adequate connectivity and equipment to perform required project operations.
