This Staff Accountant role offers a unique opportunity to join their corporate accounting team and play a key role in core monthly close functions. Candidates will have the flexibility to work remotely 3 days per week, with 2 days in-office. One in-office day will be in Deerfield, IL, and the other can be in the Chicago Loop if preferred. This role is budgeted for $60,000-70,000 annual base salary plus bonus incentives. Benefits include a company profit-sharing plan, 4% 401(k) match, gym reimbursement up to $500 per year and CPA reimbursement (study materials + exam fees).

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations, including prepaids, accruals, property tax and cash transactions
• Review and analyze Profit and Loss (P&L) statements to ensure accuracy and identify variances
• File business licenses for 60 brick-and-mortar stores in compliance with state and local regulations
• Manage annual report filings for operations in 16 states
• Prepare and submit personal property tax filings in accordance with deadlines
• Participate in the annual audit process and bank audits, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams internally, including Operations, Legal and Compliance, to support accounting and finance initiatives
• Assist in ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management

Staff Accountant Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required. Minimum GPA: 3.25 (transcripts required)
• 1+ years of experience within the accounting field
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
• Ambitious, timely and accurate with a willingness to learn
