As a Staff Backend Engineer on the TikTok AI Camera Team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust backend systems to support the camera tools and functionalities used by millions of users worldwide. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mobile developers, product managers, and designers, to ensure seamless integration of the backend with mobile applications. Responsibilities:
- Design and develop backend services and APIs to power the camera tools and features on the TikTok platform.
- Collaborate with product managers and mobile developers to understand user needs and product requirements, and translate them into well-designed backend solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest backend development, AIGC and Generative AI technologies, and incorporate them into the product development process, ensuring our creative tools stay at the forefront of the industry.
- Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend systems to handle high traffic and support a large user base.
- Implement data storage and retrieval mechanisms to support content creation, editing, and sharing.
- Identify and address security vulnerabilities to protect user data and ensure the integrity of the platform.
- Work on optimizing database queries and caching strategies to improve system efficiency and response times.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to maintain code quality and promote best practices within the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues and bugs, ensuring the stability and smooth operation of the platform.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of practical experience in backend development, with a strong command of one or more programming languages like Java, Python, or Go.
- Proven experience in designing and developing scalable backend systems for high-traffic applications.
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of database systems and data modeling, as well as proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation, and understanding of microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of security best practices and data protection measures for backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent team player with good communication and collaboration skills.
