Primary Responsibilities:

The electrical engineer researches, develops, designs tests, and evaluates electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering.

Essential Functions:
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Designs, and may direct engineering personnel in, fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Provide design and technical expertise in Electrical engineering. Perform project electrical design tasks including calculations and analysis related to power, lighting, communications, fire alarm system, electronic security, cybersecurity, and CCTV electrical systems.
  • Prepare construction contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and supporting documents.
  • Use and become familiar with National Electrical Code as well as other engineering codes and industry standards.
  • Coordinate system designs and equipment with other Engineers and Architects to meet customer needs and ensure projects are properly constructed.
  • Prepare research, technical reports, and correspondence for project designs and studies
  • Participate in periodic inspection and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment at existing facilities to examine repair needs, determine costs, and write inspection reports

Required Education/Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a program certified by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • Familiarity with structural design and analysis software (e.g., ETABS, RISA, RAM)
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE) including lateral load (e.g., seismic, wind) development
  • Experience with construction support services for building projects
  • Desire to take independent initiative and ownership of work, and an eagerness to learn
  • Experience with Federal (DoD, Federal Civilian, or Defense Contractor) projects
  • Familiarity with Design-Build or Early Contractor Involvement project delivery

Certificate/License/Registration:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) State of Florida
  • Valid Driver's license

Travel:
  • Minimal, as required
