The Job Responsibilities

Draeger Medical Systems, inc., seeks Staff Electrical Engineers- Expressing technical ideas and concepts to the rest of the engineering community including staff members for all technical disciplines to include supporting the EMI, EMC, & product safety design staff to ensure successful completion of all required product safety and EMI & EMC tests for FDA & IEC compliance testing. Contributing technology, electrical design and implementations to multiple projects. Assisting in resolving system-related issues involving multiple products to include documenting complex designs including systems requirements, theory of operation, schematics, interconnect diagrams, test procedures, test reports, risk analysis and failure analysis. Working to create a collaborative engineering environment with engineering teams in other Draeger Medical locations world-wide. Working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors including PCB layout including signal integrity simulations, EMI & EMC mitigation techniques, and design for manufacturing concepts. Working within, and at times coordinate the activities of a team of engineers and test personnel to prepare high quality deliverables during the design, implementation, integration, and testing of analog front ends for advanced physiological patient monitors. Translating the technical system requirements into the relevant sub-system electrical design to reduce cost and/or support part obsolescence redesign, creating a design based on the technical product specifications. Preparing and directing detailed design reviews in accordance with SOPs. Providing critical assessment and peer design review for development and verification engineers working in a team environment. Specifying and selecting components and subsystems. Interacting with OEM partners in the design, development and procurement of assemblies and end products. Working with suppliers on component specification and resolving quality problems. Representing the department and company factually and professionally in facility audits. Assisting in the development of regulatory documents and technical files as it relates to FDA/IEC (IEC 60601-1 Safety standard) regulated medical devices.

Your Qualifications

Requires Bachelor's (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer & Information Technology or related field and five (5) yrs. (post-degree, progressive) experience in Job Offered or related. Experience must have included: Working with FDA/IEC (IEC 60601-1 Safety standard) regulated medical devices; Designing analog/digital front end and sensor signal acquisition circuits; Documenting complex designs including systems requirements, theory of operation, schematics, interconnect diagrams, test procedures, test reports, risk analysis and failure analysis; Supporting the EMI, EMC, & product safety design staff to ensure successful completion of all required product safety and EMI & EMC tests for FDA & IEC compliance testing; PCB layout including signal integrity simulations, EMI & EMC mitigation techniques, and design for manufacturing concepts; Working with suppliers to resolve technical issues; and Taking designs from concept to production.
