The Self-Driving Hardware team is responsible for designing the computing hardware that deliver the autonomous driving capability of Tesla vehicles and humanoid robots, as well as computing infrastructure for data center. We design the complex high speed boards that delivers the compute performance while meeting the efficiency, cost, reliability and safety goals. The controller has to interface to all the sensory elements that provide the vital inputs to self-driving to make the right decision. The end result is a world-changing product delivering a superior user experience.


Responsibilities
  • Hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematics, layout supervision, prototype, validation, and manufacturing of circuit boards
  • Design of electrical architecture, electronic circuits, processor selection and integration, system timing and bus loading
  • Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, reliability, program management, mechanical, and EMC teams
  • Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, etc.
  • Come up with validation plan and verify all the features and interfaces across corners
  • Design for manufacturing, design for test and design for EMC


Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of relevant circuit board design experience
  • Demonstrated depth in end-to-end PCBA design
  • Strong in high speed board design(>5Gbps) and knowledge of interfaces (DDR, PCIe, MIPI, etc)
  • Experience in high performance processor, memory, storage, network IO based for complex mother board design
  • Good understanding of analog and power circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc.)
  • Proficiency with EE tools (oscilloscopes, BERT, network analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
  • Experience shipping high-volume electronics products
  • Design for mission critical systems (fail-safe, redundancy)
  • Basic programming and scripting ability

    • Expected Compensation

      $96,000 - $348,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
