Who we are
About Stripe

Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team

The Money Movement organization is working toward a future in which all of the complexity that comes with handling money (e.g. accepting different currencies, adopting new payment methods, integrating with hundreds of banks globally) is hidden from Stripe's users. It is core to Stripe's business and thousands of developers will use our platform and infrastructure to create valuable products and services that billions of people use.

Our team is responsible for building out the platform that powers money movement for all Stripe Products including Connect , Issuing , and Corporate Card . Ultimately, our goal is to increase the GDP of the internet by making it easy to build global products, services, and platforms that handle money.

The Experiences pillar within the Money Movement team is responsible for building the core user facing abstractions and products that make it very easy for Stripe users to move and store money.
What you'll do

We're looking for a seasoned technical leader for over 100+ engineers across the Money Movements organization that will help expand the capabilities of Stripe's global payments network. You'll work with engineering leadership, senior engineers, and cross-functional partners to design and implement novel payment capabilities and tooling, deliver best-in-class reliability/performance, and power new product experiences. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale technical efforts.
Responsibilities
  • Advise Stripe leadership on key technology and product roadmap considerations
  • Develop and execute against both short and long-term roadmaps. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe's engineering teams
  • Align our technical decisions with Stripe's broad strategic initiatives, while also advocating for needs specific to emerging new businesses.
  • As a leader within Engineering, assist with organizational growth and development while maintaining a high bar for excellence and technical curiosity.
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
  • You have served as the technical lead for a group of 100+ engineers (or equivalent) and defined the roadmap for company-impacting projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience OR equivalent combined work experience reflecting domain expertise as relevant to this position
  • Experience influencing company strategy at the intersection of business needs and technology (you measure your success in terms of business impact, not lines of code)
  • Demonstrated ability to balance execution and velocity with security, reliability, and efficiency
  • Experience mentoring, and investing in the development of other engineering leaders and staff engineers
  • You internalize the best ideas from across the organization, humbly setting a vision that others are excited to get behind
Preferred qualifications
  • (Bonus) Prior knowledge in financial technology space, particularly in payment processing

Hybrid work at Stripe
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
