Under the general direction of the Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Cannabis Control's (Department) Executive Division (Division), the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) will provide a high-level expertise and assistance on a variety of special projects, strategic planning, and administrative functions. The incumbent must possess strong writing skills, problem-solving abilities, and an in-depth knowledge of state administrative functions such as personnel, contracts, and budgets. The incumbent will coordinate critical projects on behalf of the Division with the Department Deputy Directors, provide guidance and consultation on sensitive projects and complex matters, and may represent the Chief Deputy Director in meetings.
The Department licenses and regulates commercial cannabis activity within California to create a sustainable, legal cannabis industry and a safe and equitable marketplace. The Department develops and implements progressive cannabis policies with robust protections for public health, safety, and the environment, and is responsible for all statewide policies and procedures impacting licensees, stakeholders, staff, and the public. The Division provides crucial oversight of the Department's divisions and programs.
