Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Working as part of a team to provide quality patient care and assist with the daily functions of the physician clinic. Will provide feedback to caregivers and assist with leadership duties for the team.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Assist with patients.
  • Take vital signs.
  • Enter data in electronic medical record.
  • Maintain/Stock clinic supplies and exam rooms.
  • Patient assistance program for applicable patients.
  • Clean surgical equipment.
  • Clerical and other duties assigned by the Manager of Patient Care.
  • Assist with office procedures, including but not limited to vein ablation, sclerotherapy, phlebectomy, ILR insertion - demonstrating appropriate patient preparation, sterile setup and maintaining sterile field, following universal precautions, maintaining appropriate stock, managing device pairing following ILR insertion, appropriate patient monitoring/teaching (pre and post procedure).
  • Assists with initial and on-going EPIC training including standardized documentation, application optimization/setup, new process and upgrade implementation, elbow support, and workflow to medical assistants within TCI's local and outreach locations.
  • Maintains an atmosphere that supports and encourage high performance, teamwork, customer service and continual improvement with the medical assistant area.
  • Assist with CV Service Line projects as assigned including acting as project lead as necessary.
  • Complete payroll tasks for assigned caregivers.
  • Completes clinic daily assignment schedule including caregiver re-assignment as needed.
  • Assists with medical assistant operations, schedules, staffing patterns, needs and hours.
  • Provides input to Manager of Patient care regarding hiring and termination of department caregivers.
  • Assists with tracking of assigned caregiver certifications, annual competencies, and mandatory learning modules.

General Requirements

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years clinical experience - cardiology preferred • Previous supervisory experience or increased levels of responsibility • Increasing experience assisting with in-office procedures and sterile technique preferred. • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.

Education

• HS Diploma • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant, Cardio Tech, EMT, or Paramedic program. • RMA/CMA preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Mobility required • Ability to work as part of a team to provide quality patient care. • Demonstrates a positive team attitude and has interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with clients, families, providers, and co-workers • Necessary visual and auditory acuity to monitor patient's condition and operate department equipment.. • Excellent computer skills required, Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook and Word. • Excellent organization skills. • Knowledge of general office policies and procedures. • Ability to maintain workload in a fast paced office setting • Ability to mult-task with numerous interrruptions • Requires visual and auditory acuity necessary to operate office equipment • Demonstrates a positive team attitude and has inter personal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with clients, families, providers and co-workers.
