Job Summary

In collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Director and Associate Director, provides support to the Cross Cultural Center (CCC). The coordinator of the CCC will provide support to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and practices that align with the mission and values of the CCC. The coordinator will advise student staff, support programming that is student-centered, engage with student community leaders, and assist with annual programs that support the history and contributions of diverse communities such as Black/African Diaspora, Native American and Indigenous, Mixed Heritage/Multi-Ethnic, International, Pacific Islander/Asian American, Chicanx/Latinx, and the Middle Eastern/North African/South Asian/Southwest Asian communities. The coordinator will have the responsibility of advising, mentoring, leadership development, equity efforts, multicultural education, mediation and referrals, program management, crisis intervention, problem solving, and to address the intersectionality of identities not limited to gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and ability. This position will also be supporting identity and social justice educational programming and training that fosters identity development, critical consciousness, and collective innovation throughout the campus. Collaborate with campus units/programs to enhance the mission of the center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Multicultural Affairs, Counseling, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in multicultural and social justice education and leadership development programs in a college or university setting.
  • Experience planning aspects of major events and educational workshops addressing major trends and issues affecting historically underrepresented, and marginalized student communities.
  • Experience with social justice issues, movements and sensitivity to diversity issues and the cultural needs of university students from diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, disability, citizenship, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds and identities.
  • Experience supervising student staff/paraprofessionals in educational settings.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
  • Skills to effectively lead and facilitate group discussions; lead & facilitate small group training sessions/workshops; and engage in public speaking.
  • Skills to prioritize, organize and utilize resources to accomplish established goals, tasks, and priorities with minimal direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in areas of identity, power, privilege, bias, intersectionality as an ally and advocate.
  • Experience in designing, teaching, facilitating, and/or presenting workshops, interpreting and applying policies and procedures, writing/editing any type of communication in the appropriate style.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
  • Skills to lead diverse groups of students, staff, and faculty in pursuit of cross-cultural, intergroup dialogue, diversity & inclusion, social justice, restorative justice, cultural competency, and intersectional goals
  • Demonstrated interest, ability, and experience in working with student groups, teams with colleagues and the ability to serve as a catalyst for collaborative efforts and student-centered programming.
