Sterile Processing

Night Shift

The incumbent supports the Operating Room schedule by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging and sterilizing surgical instrumentation as well as flexible endoscopes. The incumbent is a vital member of the Perioperative Services Team and must adhere to all Perioperative standards of practice. He/she must ensure the finished surgical instrument set / flexible endoscope is assembled appropriately for the scheduled procedure and that all instruments / flexible endoscope and supplies are dispatched to the correct location. The incumbent is accountable for the facilitation of common goals within the department, independent daily assignment duties, and for project duties as assigned within the department. He/She will also serve as a resource to the team and will be responsible for personal professional development as it relates to the department. • Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation / flexible endoscope, linens and identifies those in need of repairs. • Follows established priority list, edited O.R. schedule, and telephone requests for required instruments / flexible endoscope. • Navigates automated instrument tracking system software. • Produces a minimum of 15 instrumentation sets per day • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the CensisTrac system • Clearly documents as applicable, all processed material not track via electronic system.

H.S. Diploma/GED, required. 4+ years Instrument and Endoscope processing experience, required. 6+ years Successful experience as a HUP Instrument Processing Technician and recommendation by manager. Eligible employees must be in good standing in the department and have no active record of performance management issues during the past 12 months. Successful involvement in and completion of an IP/Perioperative Services Project. Certification as a Central Processing Technician, required OR CRCST must be obtained within 1 year from date of hire. Certification as a Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), required.
